Wallapop Buyer Cost Calculator — Protection Fee & the Total You Really Pay

On Wallapop the price on the listing is never the price at checkout. When you buy through Wallapop Envíos, you — the buyer — also pay the shipping and Protección Wallapop, the buyer protection fee that holds your money until you confirm the item arrived as described. This Wallapop buyer cost calculator applies the platform’s published tiered fee structure to any item price, adds the shipping you are quoted, and shows the true total before you commit — plus what the fee works out to as a percentage, which is where cheap items surprise people.

Every tier value is editable, because Wallapop itself warns that service costs can vary. ¿Compras en España? La versión en español incluye también el neto del vendedor: Calculadora de Comisiones de Venta Wallapop.

How Protección Wallapop is charged

The fee is tiered by item price (structure published for Wallapop Envíos and checked October 2026). Items from €1 to €13 pay a flat €1.69. From €13.01 to €657 the fee is €0.69 plus 7.5% of the item price. From €657.01 up to the €2,500 maximum allowed on Wallapop Envíos, the fee is a flat €50. The buyer always pays it, together with the shipping; the seller receives the full listing price. Wallapop’s own Envíos terms note that service costs can vary (the platform runs pricing tests), and the exact fee is always shown on the payment summary screen before you confirm — use this calculator to know what to expect, and the checkout screen as the final word.

Worked examples

A €40 jacket with €4.99 shipping: the fee is €0.69 + 7.5% of €40 = €0.69 + €3.00 = €3.69, so you pay €40 + €3.69 + €4.99 = €48.68 — the protection fee alone is 9.2% of the item price. A €10 book pays the flat €1.69, which is 16.9% of its price before shipping is even added. At the top end, an €800 laptop pays the flat €50 fee: proportionally the cheapest band at 6.25%. The pattern matters for negotiation: on low-priced items the fee and shipping can approach the price of the item itself, which is why bundling several items from one seller, or meeting locally for cheap goods, often beats Envíos.

What the fee buys you

Protección Wallapop is not a traditional insurance policy — Wallapop holds your payment in escrow, releases it to the seller only after you confirm the item is correct (or 48 hours after delivery if you do nothing), and covers you if the item never arrives or is significantly not as described, including handling the dispute and, where applicable, the return. It is mandatory on Wallapop Envíos: there is no way to switch it off and still use the platform’s shipping. If a seller asks you to pay outside the platform “to save the fee”, you lose the protection entirely — the fee is precisely what funds it.

Reading the result

Compare the fee’s percentage line, not just the total. Under about €13 the flat fee dominates; in the middle band the fee is close to a constant ~8–9% at low prices, falling towards 7.6% near €657; above that the flat €50 keeps falling as a share. If the percentage shocks you on a small purchase, the honest options are to bundle, to buy locally in person, or to accept it as the price of escrow protection — not to move the payment off-platform.

And the shipping itself?

Shipping is priced separately by weight and service (home delivery costs more than a drop-off point), and it is also paid by the buyer on Wallapop Envíos. Because protection is calculated only on the item price, a heavy cheap item can end up costing more in shipping than in goods — the classic case is furniture and sports equipment, where a €15 item with €14.50 of shipping and €1.82 of protection is really a €31.32 purchase. Run those numbers before you bid, and remember that for bulky low-value goods a local, in-person deal is often the rational choice: no shipping, no protection fee, and you inspect the item before money changes hands.
