A raw screenshot pasted into a post looks like evidence; the same screenshot floated on a gradient with rounded corners and a soft shadow looks like a product. This free screenshot beautifier does that transformation in your browser: upload any screenshot — app, website, chat, code, dashboard — set the padding, pick a gradient or solid background, round the corners, and export a full-resolution PNG ready for X, LinkedIn, your blog or your launch page.
Nothing is uploaded to a server, no watermark is stamped on the result, and there is no sign-up. What you preview is exactly what you download, at full size.
Why beautified screenshots outperform raw ones
Social feeds are visual auctions, and a bare screenshot loses: its edges end abruptly, its white background fights the feed’s white background, and nothing about it says “this was worth making”. Padding and a coloured backdrop solve all three problems at once. The margin separates your content from the surrounding UI, the background colour becomes a recognisable brand cue across a series of posts, and the shadow lifts the shot off the page so the eye lands on it first. Product launches, changelog posts, tutorial threads and testimonial shares all convert better with this treatment — it is the difference between attaching a file and presenting a feature.
The four controls, and how to use them
Padding is the margin between your screenshot and the edge of the canvas, as a percentage of the image’s larger side. Around 8–12% reads as calm and premium; go higher for a hero image, lower for a dense dashboard you need to keep large in the frame. Background offers six gradient presets, five solids and a custom colour picker — gradients give depth with zero effort, solids match strict brand guidelines, and a white or paper background keeps documentation screenshots feeling like documentation. Corner roundness softens the screenshot’s own corners (the canvas corners stay square, so the file slots into any layout); 3–6% suits most app shots. Shadow adds the soft drop shadow that sells the floating effect — keep it on for social images, consider it off for formal docs.
A worked example
Take a typical 1440×900 app screenshot. At 10% padding the canvas grows by 144 px on every side to 1728×1188 — close to the 4:3-ish shapes blogs love, and every pixel of the original screenshot survives untouched at full resolution in the middle. Roundness at 4% trims the corners by about 36 px, and the shadow is drawn at roughly a third of the padding, soft and offset downward. The exported PNG is a few hundred kilobytes — light enough for any feed — and because the beautifier works on a canvas in your browser, the original screenshot’s pixels are never re-compressed or uploaded anywhere.
Recipes worth stealing
For a launch post: Teal or Ocean gradient, 12% padding, shadow on — bold and unmistakably a product announcement. For a tutorial thread: solid Paper background, 8% padding, small radius — the series stays consistent and the focus stays on the steps; resize the exports with the website resizer if your blog column is narrower than the canvas. For a testimonial or chat screenshot: Mint or Sunset gradient at 10% — warm framing makes a conversation feel like a story. Phone screenshots work exactly the same way; their tall shape simply gets a taller canvas. Whatever recipe you choose, reuse it: a recognisable frame is a brand asset, and this tool makes it a ten-second habit.
What this tool deliberately does not do
Honesty about scope: the beautifier frames your screenshot; it does not retouch what is inside it. There are no filters, no AI enhancements and no pixel edits — the screenshot in the middle is bit-for-bit the image you uploaded, which is exactly what you want when the screenshot is evidence, documentation or a faithful product view. If the shot itself needs cropping or straightening first, do that with the image cropper, then come back here for the frame.
