Extract Links from PDF – List All PDF Hyperlinks Free Online

Use the free Extract Links from PDF below: your PDF never leaves your browser — all work happens on your device, and nothing is uploaded to any server.

Links hide inside PDFs

A PDF can contain dozens of clickable links, and there is no easy way to see them all. You click through page by page, hoping you found them all, and you never really know. That is a problem when you audit a document, check a report before publishing, or collect the sources from a paper. This tool reads every page of your PDF and lists every clickable link it finds, with the page each link sits on.

Editors use it to check that no link is broken or pointing at the wrong place before a document goes out. Researchers use it to harvest references from a paper without clicking each one. Website owners use it to find old links in a media kit or catalogue. Teachers use it to collect the resources hidden in a course pack. In each case, the alternative is slow manual clicking — and manual clicking always misses one.

How it works

Upload your PDF and press the button. The tool uses pdf.js to read the annotations on each page — annotations are the invisible layer that makes part of a page clickable — and pulls out every web address it finds. The result is a table: page number on the left, link on the right. Each link is clickable, so you can visit it at once. You can also download the whole list as a CSV file, which opens in any spreadsheet for further checking.

The whole job runs in your browser. Your PDF is never uploaded, which matters when the document is unpublished, confidential, or under embargo.

What counts as a link?

Only real clickable links are listed. Plain text that looks like a web address but is not linked is not included, because the tool reports what a reader can actually click. That distinction is useful: it tells you what the document truly links to, not what it merely mentions. If you need the text mentions too, a text search of the PDF will find them — but for an audit of live links, the clickable list is the honest answer.

Internal links — ones that jump to another page of the same PDF — are not web addresses, so they do not appear in the list. The tool focuses on external URLs, the ones that leave the document and therefore the ones most likely to break.

Using the CSV export

The CSV download turns the list into data you can work with. Open it in a spreadsheet, add a column for status, and work through the links checking each one. Sort by domain to spot surprises — a link to an unexpected site stands out at once. Filter by page to check one section at a time. For a long document, this turns an afternoon of clicking into a structured half-hour task.

Link checking tools can then take over. Paste the URLs into a bulk checker, or use a spreadsheet formula to fetch status codes, and you have a full audit trail: every link, its page, and whether it still works.

Limits, stated plainly

The tool cannot tell you whether a link is broken. It lists links; checking them means visiting them, which is a separate step. It also cannot find links inside images — if a web address is baked into a scanned picture, no annotation exists to read, and the tool will not see it. And it reads the links as stored in the file, so a link that redirects elsewhere will show its stored address, not its final destination.

Very large PDFs with hundreds of pages take a little while, because each page is read in turn. The progress is worth it: a complete list is the point.

Privacy

Everything happens in your browser. The PDF is read locally, the list is built locally, and nothing is sent to any server. That makes the tool safe for drafts, internal reports, and embargoed papers.

Common questions

Why does my PDF show no links when I can see web addresses in the text? Those addresses are probably plain text, not clickable links. The tool lists only clickable ones.

Can I download the list? Yes, as a CSV file that opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app.

Does it check if links work? No. It lists them; click through or use a link checker for status.
