Maxine’s passion for helping others reached its zenith through her unwavering commitment to Special Olympics. As an area coordinator for Somerset County Special Olympics, she dedicated herself to creating inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities to participate in sports and recreational activities. Driven by her belief that everyone deserved a chance to shine, Maxine worked tirelessly to organize events, provide training, and foster a supportive environment where all athletes could reach their full potential.

For her outstanding contributions to Special Olympics, Maxine received the prestigious Volunteer of the Year Award from the organization’s founder, Mrs. Kennedy Shriver. Her dedication and unwavering spirit were also recognized with a Lifetime Achievement Award, a testament to her profound impact on the lives of countless athletes.

Maxine also leaves behind a legacy of love and affection through her children: Vanessa Greenleaf (husband Robert) of Winslow, Veronica Overlock (husband Alex) of Winslow, Vincent Briggs (wife Ellen) of Madison, and Vance Briggs of Frost Proof, Florida. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, filling her days with laughter and warmth.

Maxine’s passing is preceded by the loss of her mother, Dorothy Badger, her father, Richard Briggs, and her grandson, Clint James Briggs. Their memory lived on through the stories and cherished moments she shared with her loved ones.
