Dennis George Cotta was born in Harmony, Maine, on January 30, 1947, to Elizabeth “Betty” I. (Cooley) and Daniel G. Cotta.

He graduated from Harmony High School in 1965 and immediately went to proudly serve in the US Army during the Vietnam War, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal.

After his military service, Dennis began a fulfilling career as an Iron Worker with Cianbro. He dedicated over 30 years to the company, playing a pivotal role in bridge development and construction.

Dennis was a man of many talents and interests. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in the woods. He also loved maple syrupping, beekeeping, and woodworking.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Dennell Baker and husband Christopher of Stetson, and Deanna Preble and husband Spencer of Hancock; grandsons, Kyle Ham and wife Kaitlynn of Oakland, and Dylan Ham of Stetson; brothers, David Cotta and wife Lorraine of Sangerville, Donald Cotta and wife Barbara of Norridgewock, and Douglas Cotta and wife Sherry of Dexter; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Avenue, Skowhegan, Maine, 04976. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 pm at Chadbourne Cemetery, Chadbourne Road, Harmony, Maine, 04942.
