Habit Tracker – Track Daily Habits Without an Account

Use the free Habit Tracker below: your data never leaves your browser — all work happens on your device, and nothing is uploaded to any server.

Most habits fail for a boring reason: nobody writes them down. A person decides to drink more water, read every evening, or walk after lunch, and then life happens, and by Thursday nobody remembers whether Monday counted. The Habit Tracker fixes that with the simplest possible system: a list of habits, a tick box for each day, and a streak count that shows how many days in a row you have kept each habit going.

Streaks work because they make progress visible. A habit you have kept for twelve days feels different from a habit you started yesterday, and breaking a long streak stings just enough to get you out the door on a lazy day. The tracker counts a streak as consecutive days ending today, or yesterday if today is not ticked yet, so a morning check does not unfairly reset a streak you are about to continue.

To use it, type a habit into the box and press Add habit. Good habits are specific: ‘walk 20 minutes’ beats ‘exercise more’, because you always know whether you did it. Each day, tick the box for every habit you completed. The streak updates at once. Remove a habit with its Remove button when it no longer fits your life, and do not feel guilty about it — a habit list should shrink as well as grow.

Saving works in two ways, and the tool tells you plainly which one is active. If your browser allows storage, your habits are saved in the browser itself, so they are still there tomorrow when you return to the page. If storage is blocked, which can happen inside some preview frames, the tracker still works fully during your visit, but it cannot remember anything after you leave. In that case, press Export data to download a backup file, and use the import box to restore it later. The backup is a plain file you own, not an account on someone else’s server.

That no-account design is deliberate. Habit data is personal: it reveals your routines, your health goals, and your weak days. Keeping it in your own browser, or in a file you control, means no company builds a profile from it and no password can leak it. The trade-off is honest too: if you clear your browser data or switch devices, the browser-saved list goes with it, which is exactly why the export button exists.

Start small. One or two habits, ticked daily, beat a list of ten that collapses in a week. Pick habits you can do on a bad day, not just a good one, and let the streaks grow slowly. After a month, the list itself becomes evidence that you are the kind of person who keeps promises to yourself, and that evidence is worth more than any single tick.

How to track a habit

  1. Add a habit with a specific, checkable wording.
  2. Tick its box each day you complete it.
  3. Watch the streak count grow.
  4. Export a backup now and then, especially if storage is blocked.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account? No. There is no account, no sign-up, and no password.

Will my habits still be here tomorrow? If your browser allows storage, yes. If not, the page says so, and you should export a backup file.

How is a streak counted? Consecutive days ending today, or yesterday if today is not ticked yet.

Can I move my data to another device? Yes. Export the backup file on one device and import it on the other.

Habits are built one tick at a time, and a tick you can see is a tick you are more likely to repeat. Add one habit today, tick it tonight, and let the streak do the persuading from here.
