Never Miss a Service Again
A car is usually the second most expensive thing a person owns, after a home. Yet many owners track its maintenance on loose paper, in memory, or not at all. Then a service is missed, a small problem grows into a big repair, and the bill is far larger than it needed to be. The Vehicle Maintenance Tracker gives you a simple, private log for every service, so your car’s history is always in one place.
Using the tool is simple. Enter the date, choose the service type, add the kilometres on the clock, and enter the cost. Press Add service, and the entry joins your log in date order. Service types cover the common jobs: oil change, tires, brakes, full service, battery, and other. Over time, your log becomes a real record of what was done, when, and at what mileage, which is exactly what a mechanic or a future buyer wants to see.
The total cost figure is more useful than it first looks. Most drivers underestimate what their car costs to maintain, because each bill arrives separately and is quickly forgotten. When the tool adds them up, you see the true yearly cost of keeping your car on the road. That number helps you budget honestly, compare years, and decide whether an old car is still worth keeping or whether repair costs have passed the point of sense.
Kilometre readings matter too. Many services are due by distance, not just by date: oil every ten or fifteen thousand kilometres, tires when tread wears down, brakes when they start to feel soft. By logging the kilometres at each service, you can see how far you have driven since the last one and judge when the next is due. A driver who logs honestly will rarely be surprised by a service light.
Keeping a service history also protects the value of your car. When you sell a vehicle, buyers pay more for one with a clear, believable history than for one with vague claims. A printed or exported log, with dates, mileage, and costs, is strong evidence that the car was cared for. It also helps you in disputes: if a garage claims a part was replaced last year, your log shows whether that is true.
The tracker is designed around privacy and control. Your entries are saved in your browser when storage is available. If storage is blocked, for example inside some embedded frames, entries are kept only in memory while the page stays open. That behaviour is stated plainly in the tool itself, so there are no surprises. Either way, you can export your whole log as a file at any time, and import it back later. Keep that exported file as your permanent backup, just as you would keep paper receipts.
A few habits make the tracker work even better. Log each service on the same day it happens, while the receipt is still in your hand. Take a photo of the receipt and keep it with your exported file. Once a year, look through the log and ask what is due next: tires, brakes, battery, or a full service. Set a reminder on your phone for the next due date. The tracker records the past; your reminder protects the future.
Start with what you remember. Enter the last two or three services from your receipts or your memory, even if the details are approximate. Then log every new service as it happens. Within a year, you will have a complete, honest history of your vehicle, a clear view of its true cost, and far fewer surprises from the garage. That is what a good maintenance log gives you: not just records, but confidence every time you turn the key.
