A Life Dedicated to History and Community

Barbara Wilson Pinkham, a lifelong resident of Oakland, Maine, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2023. Throughout her
life, she was a tireless advocate for her community, a passionate historian, and a devoted member of the Oakland-Sidney
United Methodist Church.

Pinkham’s deep love for Oakland’s history was evident in her many contributions to the community. She was a founding
member and the first curator of the Lexington/Highland History House, a local museum dedicated to preserving the history
of the Lexington and Highland areas of Oakland. She also played a pivotal role in the restoration of the historic
Lexington Center Cemetery.

Pinkham’s passion for history extended beyond her hometown. She was an active member of the Kennebec Historical
Society, where she served on the board of directors and contributed numerous articles to the society’s journal. She was
also a dedicated volunteer at the Maine State Museum, where she shared her knowledge of Maine history with visitors.

A Pillar of the Oakland-Sidney United Methodist Church

Pinkham’s faith played a central role in her life. She was a lifelong member of the Oakland-Sidney United Methodist
Church, where she served in various leadership positions, including as a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and lay
leader. Her deep spirituality and unwavering commitment to the church community inspired countless individuals.

In recognition of her exceptional service to the church, Pinkham was awarded the Laity Service Award by the United
Methodist Church in 2010. This prestigious award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the
life and ministry of the church.

A Legacy of Love and Service

Barbara Wilson Pinkham will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her community, her passion for history, and
her deep faith. Her legacy will continue to inspire and motivate others to serve their communities and make a
difference in the world.

Pinkham is survived by her husband of 55 years, John Pinkham, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A
Celebration of Life will be held at the Oakland-Sidney United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 15, 2023, at 11 a.m.
Lunch will follow in the Social Hall.
