The Womelsdorf community is in mourning following the passing of Jay F. Miller, a beloved figure who dedicated his life to his family, his business, and his community. Miller, a resident of Womelsdorf for 94 years, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center.
Early Life and Family
Jay F. Miller was born on February 17, 1930, in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Frank A. Miller and Cora E. Hostetter Miller. Miller grew up in Womelsdorf and attended local schools. After graduating high school, he married Nancy L. Klopp, with whom he shared a loving and fulfilling marriage.
Business and Community Involvement
Miller was a successful businessman and an active member of the Womelsdorf community. He and his family owned and operated Central Garage in Womelsdorf for 48 years. Miller was a hard worker and a respected member of the business community.
In addition to his business endeavors, Miller was deeply involved in community affairs. He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Fellowship Church for over 70 years and served as a Volunteer Fireman for 34 years. He was also a member of Williamson Lodge #307 F&AM, Valley of Reading Scottish Rite, Rajah Shrine, and the Union Cemetery Association of Womelsdorf. Miller was a dedicated volunteer and worked tirelessly to make a difference in his community.
Recognition and Awards
Miller’s contributions to Womelsdorf were recognized through numerous awards and honors. He was a recipient of the Robesonia Senior Neighborhood Center Lifetime Achievement Award and the Berks Encore Volunteer of the Year Award. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame-Berks Chapter.

He was a pillar of the community, known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to his family and friends. Funeral Arrangements
Funeral services for Jay F. Miller will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 2 PM at the Hall of Williamson Lodge #307 F&AM in Womelsdorf, Pennsylvania. Burial will follow in Womelsdorf Union Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Hall of Williamson Lodge on Sunday, June 9, 2024, from 3-6 PM and on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 1 PM until the time of the service. A Masonic Service will be held on Sunday at 6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jay Miller’s memory may be made to the Tulpehocken Settlement Historical Society or the Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company.
