Cornhole Scoreboard – Live Scoreboard for Coaches and Scorers

This free cornhole scoreboard is a live scoreboard you can open on any phone or laptop at the side of the game. It runs fully in your browser, needs no app download and no sign-up, and both teams can see the same clear score at a glance. It is made for coaches, scorers and players who want a scoreboard that just works, without hunting through menus while the game goes on.

To use it, type the two team or player names at the top, then tap the buttons as the game happens. The score updates at once, and the running log below the scoreboard keeps a plain record of every change, so a disputed point can be checked in seconds. If you tap the wrong button, press Undo to step back one move, and press Reset only when a new game starts.

The scoreboard uses cancellation scoring, which is the standard cornhole rule. Each round, bags in the hole score three points and bags on the board score one point, and each side adds up its own round total. Only the difference counts: the side with the higher round total scores that difference, and the other side scores nothing for the round. The first side to reach 21 points wins the game, so a big round can change a match at once, but a tied round scores nothing for either side.

For example, if one side lands four bags in the hole for twelve points while the other side lands one in the hole and one on the board for four points, the first side scores eight points and the other scores nothing. If both sides land two in the hole and two on the board, the round is tied at eight each and nobody scores. That cancellation rule is what makes cornhole comebacks possible.

Reading the scoreboard is simple: the big numbers are the current score, and the smaller lines show the detail behind them, such as frames, ends or rounds already played. Keep the phone or tablet where both teams can see it, and call the score out loud after each change, because a visible scoreboard ends most arguments before they start.

Count bags only after all eight bags of a round have been thrown, and agree on bags that hang over the edge before scoring the round. Write the round totals down as you go, because a cancelled round is easy to misremember later. Call the running score before each new round so both sides start the round in agreement.

A common mistake is letting one person keep score in their head while the board stays out of date. Update the board at once, after every point, and check it against the other scorer at natural breaks, such as between frames, ends or rounds. If the two records disagree, stop and agree on the last point both sides remember, then carry on from there, because a scoreboard both sides trust matters more than a fast one.

Over a season, a simple scoreboard habit pays off in more ways than one. Players learn to check the score before arguing a call, coaches spot patterns such as slow starts or lost leads, and organisers can run more games in a day because less time goes to disputes. Save a note of the final score after each game, and after a few weeks you will have a fair record of form that no memory can match.

This scoreboard is free to use as often as you like, for practice games, league matches and tournaments alike. Try it with your own teams now, and come back whenever you need a clear score that everyone can see. Keep the link saved on the home screen of the phone you take to games, so the board is one tap away when the match starts and nobody has to search for it.
