It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Douglas Thorpe, a beloved resident of Augusta, Maine. Douglas passed away peacefully on August 4, surrounded by his loving family.

Obituary

Douglas was born on January 12, 1945, in Augusta, Maine. He was the son of the late Richard and Mary Thorpe. Douglas graduated from Cony High School in 1963 and went on to earn a degree in business from the University of Maine at Augusta.

Douglas had a long and successful career in the insurance industry. He worked for several insurance companies before starting his own agency in 1985. Douglas was a respected member of the Augusta business community and served on the board of directors of several local organizations.

Douglas was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Douglas was also an avid golfer and enjoyed playing at the Augusta Country Club.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol; his two children, David and Jennifer; and his four grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, William, and Benjamin.

Funeral Arrangements

A memorial service will be held for Douglas on Saturday, August 12, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Augusta. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.
