Cullman Resident Lucille Gilley Passes Away at 95

Devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother Remembered for Her Kind Heart and Generous Spirit

Cullman, AL – Lucille Gilley, a cherished member of the Cullman community, entered the presence of our Lord on Tuesday evening, July 30, 2024, at the age of 95. Gilley’s passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of her family and friends.

Born in Ohio on October 6, 1928, to William Thomas “Tom” and Effie Mae Lamberth Dunlap, Gilley moved to Cullman in her early childhood. She became a lifelong member of Brooklyn Church, where she served faithfully throughout her life. Gilley’s unwavering faith and love for her church community were a constant source of strength and comfort to her.

Gilley was a woman of many talents and interests. She had a passion for gardening and took immense pride in keeping her yard immaculate. Her home was often adorned with vibrant and colorful blooms, reflecting her love for nature. Gilley also enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, and her culinary creations brought joy to countless gatherings.

Above all else, Gilley was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was affectionately known as “Maw Maw” by her family, who cherished the time they spent together. Gilley’s kind heart and generous spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Gilley is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Feltus Gilley; her son, Jimmy Gilley; and her brother and sister-in-law, Clifton and Boots Dunlap.

She is survived by her son, Billy Gilley (Tiny); daughter-in-law, Sheila Gilley; brother, Tommy Dunlap (Dianah); grandchildren, Angela Gilley Eubanks (Jarrod), Justin Gilley, Jennifer Eddleman (Josh); and great-grandchildren, Cole Eubanks, Caylee Eubanks, Jett Gilley, Anna Lee Eddleman, Lainey Eddleman, and Evie Mae Eddleman.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during visitation hours on Saturday evening, August 3rd, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral service will be held at Brooklyn Church on Sunday afternoon, August 4th, 2024, at 3 p.m., with Chris Washburn and Sam Gregory officiating. Gilley will lie in state from 2 p.m. until the service begins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southern Care Hospice in memory of Lucille Gilley. Holly Pond Funeral Home is honored to serve the Gilley family during this difficult time.
