Obituary: Douglas McArthur Hagood of Cullman, Alabama

Douglas McArthur Hagood, age 82, passed away on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at his home in Cullman, Alabama.

Douglas was born on March 15, 1942, in Cullman, Alabama to the late John and Mary Hagood. He was a graduate of Cullman High School and served in the United States Army. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company after 30 years of service.

Douglas was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cullman. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and golfing.

Douglas is survived by his wife of 58 years, Johnnie Hagood; his daughter, Connie Lawrence (Jamie); and his son, Brian Hagood (Cecelia); his sister, Betty Tubbs; his grandchildren, Madison Lawrence, Lauren Hagood, Morgan & Bo Wright, Lydia Hagood, and Mackenzie Lawrence; and his great-grandchildren, Campbell and Stratton Wright.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 2, 2024, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home, 1901 2nd Ave NW, Cullman, AL 35055. A lie in state will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Moss Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cullman City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Cullman Building Fund.
