Peru’s national police Green Squadron launched a novel Christmas-themed operation targeting drug traffickers over the weekend. A key element of the operation involved an officer disguised as the Grinch. On Friday, this Grinch, clad in a Santa Claus suit, dramatically burst into the home of suspected drug traffickers. Police video footage shows the Grinch subsequently searching the premises and uncovering significant quantities of money and drugs.
According to Col. Carlos Lopez Aedo, head of the Police Green Squadron, the Grinch’s participation in a prior Christmas community event served as a crucial element of the operation’s success. The officer’s presence in the neighborhood remained undetected until the moment of the raid. “Using the ingenuity and cleverness of the Terna Group, we used the Grinch, after an activity for Christmas,” explained Lopez Aedo.
The raid resulted in the seizure of packages of cocaine hydrochloride and cocaine paste, along with various drug paraphernalia including scales and strainers. In a memorable moment captured on video, the Grinch himself, in character, declared, “I hate Christmas and criminals.”
