A man died in a head-on collision early Christmas morning in Lawrence County, Alabama. Kaelin M. Simpson, 28, of Hillsboro, was pronounced dead at the scene after his vehicle collided with a car driven by Ziyad M. Al-Dabashi, 44. Al-Dabashi sustained injuries and was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital for treatment, according to a Wednesday press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).
The accident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Alabama Highway 20, near Lawrence County Road 434, approximately one mile north of Hillsboro. ALEA reported that neither driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the head-on collision. Simpson was driving a 2004 Honda Accord, while Al-Dabashi was driving a 2002 Lexus LX470.
An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.
