Harris County deputy constable; man arrested, accused of attempted disarming.

Houston, TX – December 30, 2024 – A 21-year-old man, David Banda, is facing additional charges after allegedly attempting to disarm a deputy during his arrest in northeast Harris County on Saturday.

According to Harris County Constable Mark Herman, Precinct 4, officers initially pulled Banda over on S Sam Houston Parkway East for reckless driving. While being detained, Banda was informed of the charges against him. At that point, Herman stated, Banda “slipped his restraints to the front of his body and attempted to disarm the deputy.”

A struggle ensued, during which Banda allegedly struck a second officer who attempted to intervene, hitting the deputy in the stomach and face. Banda was eventually subdued.

He is now charged with attempting to disarm a police officer and assault on a public servant. Banda is currently being held at the Harris County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
