Brace yourselves for what might be the most charming love story of 2025: a romance starring Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun, but with a twist – they’re robots.
Premiering at Sundance 2024, *Love Me* unfolds long after humanity has abandoned Earth. Yet, our technology persists, searching for purpose and, surprisingly, love. At the heart of the story is a digital buoy, adrift in the empty oceans and voiced by Stewart (of *Love Lies Bleeding* fame), and a satellite orbiting high above, voiced by Yeun (the star of *Beef*). Their unlikely relationship blossoms as they attempt to understand their existence and the world around them through the lens of – you guessed it – the internet.
Written and directed by Sam and Andy Zuchero, *Love Me* transcends its high-concept premise. This unique drama explores themes of love, life, and identity, delving into our human obsession with social media, influencers, and online avatars to question who we truly are beyond our digital personas. Having seen it, I can confidently say it’s truly spectacular.
*Love Me* arrives in theaters on January 31st.
