South Alabama strengthened its roster with the addition of linebacker Tre’Mon Henry from the transfer portal. The 6-foot-2, 245-pound Henry announced his commitment to the Jaguars on January 4, 2025, via Twitter. In his 2024 season at Southern Miss, Henry, a redshirted true freshman, contributed nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss across eleven games. A 3-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, he possesses three years of remaining eligibility. He expressed his excitement on social media, thanking Coach Applewhite and the South Alabama football program.
Henry, who played junior high school football in Eufaula, Alabama, before returning to Carver High School in Columbus, Georgia, is the third player to join South Alabama through the transfer portal this cycle. He joins defensive end Tirrell Johnson (Harding) and wide receiver Brendan Jenkins (Samford). The Jaguars anticipate further additions to their roster before the spring semester commences on January 13th.
South Alabama concluded the 2024 season with a 7-6 record under first-year head coach Major Applewhite, culminating in a 30-23 victory over Western Michigan in the Salute to Veterans Bowl.
