Hyderabad’s Old City Metro project has reached a key milestone. On Monday, compensation cheques will be distributed to property owners affected by land acquisition along the MG Bus Station (MGBS) to Chandrayangutta metro corridor route. Authorities have identified approximately 1,100 properties impacted by the project. Of these, 169 owners have submitted the necessary documentation, with over 40 properties already completing the verification process. The government has approved a compensation rate of ₹81,000 per square yard for affected properties.
The distribution event will be attended by Telangana Transport Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who will personally present the cheques to the property owners. This significant step forward in the Old City’s metro expansion is anticipated to greatly improve connectivity and alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
While the distribution of compensation cheques is welcomed by many residents, some await the resolution of their pending claims. Further project updates are expected in the coming weeks.
