Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar emphasized the paramount importance of nationalism for national progress during his address at the inauguration of the 2025 NCC Republic Day camp in New Delhi. He asserted that a deep commitment to national interests must supersede all other considerations, advocating a “nation-first” approach among citizens. Dhankhar highlighted the NCC cadets as embodying the country’s elite youth, uniquely positioned to cultivate the virtues essential for national growth within the disciplined framework of the NCC.
Dhankhar introduced “Panch Pran” (five pledges) as a framework for fostering a strong nationalistic spirit. These pledges, he explained, would cultivate responsibility, values, and national consciousness. He urged cadets to actively practice these values daily and remain vigilant against anti-national elements, safeguarding India’s democratic foundations. He stressed unwavering dedication to the nation as the cornerstone of its existence. This unwavering commitment, he argued, is particularly crucial during a time of unprecedented national growth and global recognition.
Expanding on the Panch Pran, Dhankhar detailed their components: fostering social harmony to unify India’s diversity; nurturing patriotic values within families; protecting and conserving the environment; promoting “Swadeshi” (self-reliance) as a pillar of “Atmanirbhar Bharat” (self-reliant India); and upholding civic duties as a pathway to national progress. He emphasized the family’s role in instilling these qualities in young people.
The Vice President lauded the NCC cadets as the architects of India’s future glory, particularly as the nation approaches its goal of becoming a world leader. He pointed to India’s burgeoning economy, its rising global standing, and the expanding opportunities available to its youth, all contributing to a climate of national optimism. Dhankhar attributed this progress to strategic government initiatives, policy decisions, and a shift towards merit-based systems, creating an environment where young Indians can fully realize their potential.
