AccuWeather forecasts a calm and bright Christmas Day (Wednesday) for New York City, New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut, with a mix of sunshine and patchy clouds. However, travelers should be aware of potentially slick spots. There’s a good chance this will be New York City’s first white Christmas since 2009—a significant event, given the 13% annual probability of a white Christmas in the city. The National Weather Service defines a white Christmas as one inch of snow on the ground at 7 a.m. on Christmas morning.
The extended forecast is as follows: Wednesday, calm with a high of 36 degrees; Thursday, trending sunnier with a high of 36 degrees; Friday, seasonable sun and cirrus clouds with a high of 40 degrees; Saturday, a bit of drizzle with a high of 42 degrees; Sunday, morning drizzle changing to afternoon rain with a high of 48 degrees; Monday, a wet start with a possibly drier afternoon, and a high of 50 degrees; and Tuesday, a chance of afternoon rain with a high of 49 degrees.
