A man is fighting for life and four children have been injured in an alleged road rage incident on a Melbourne freeway.
The incident began just before 5pm on Sunday when the drivers of a white Ford station wagon and a Mitsubishi ute travelling north on EastLink in Wantirna South allegedly became involved in an altercation.
Both then exited the freeway at High St.

As they turned onto Stud Rd and then onto Burwood Highway, the station wagon allegedly collided with a third car, a silver Toyota Rav4.
The Toyota flipped onto the centre median strip and the 52-year-old driver was critically injured and remains in hospital.
There were four children aged between 17 years and five months old in the Ford station wagon and all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the children remains in hospital.
The driver of the Ford, a 43-year-old Mooroolbark man, has been charged with dangerous driving causing a serious injury.
He has been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The driver of the Mitsubishi ute, another 43-year-old man, was charged with conduct endangering life and dangerous driving causing a serious injury and has also been bailed to appear in court on Thursday.
There was a 10-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi ute and they were not injured in the incident.
