Alvin M. Sprute Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin M. Sprute, age 87, of Rosemount, Minnesota. Alvin passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Our Lady of Peace Hospice.
Alvin was born on May 7, 1937, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, to Maynard and Henrietta Sprute. He grew up in St. Cloud and graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1955. After high school, Alvin attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1959. He then went on to work as a financial analyst at General Mills in Minneapolis for over 30 years.
Alvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Barbara, in 1962. Together, they raised two children, Melinda and Andrew. Alvin was a loving and supportive father who always put his family first. He was also a proud grandfather of six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Alvin was a man of faith and was an active member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Apple Valley. He was a devout believer and loved to share his faith with others. Alvin was also a dedicated volunteer and spent many hours helping out at the church and in the community.
Alvin was a kind and compassionate man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was a true friend, a loving father, and a devoted husband. Alvin’s legacy will live on through his family and the many people whose lives he touched.
Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, parents Maynard and Henrietta, and sisters Marlys and Sylvia. He is survived by children Melinda Sprute (Phillip Willis), Andrew (Daneth) Sprute; grandchildren Amanda (Jessie), Alicia (Tyler), Cameron, Richard, Orianna, and great grandson, Devone.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to Our Lady of Peace Hospice or Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.
Visitation will be held at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 12650 Johnny Cake Ridge Rd., Apple Valley, MN, on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. The funeral service will follow at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at Acacia Park Cemetery in Mendota Heights, MN.
