It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Ardell W. Antolini, who passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 11, 2024. She was 82 years old.

Early Life and Family

Ardell was born in West Reading, PA on November 22, 1941. She was a competitive roller skater in her teenage years and later worked in the Reading Hospital Maternity Ward. She married Bernard J. Elzer, Jr. in 1963 and had two sons, Bernard J. Elzer III and Robert H. Elzer.

Ardell was a dedicated and loving mother, known as “THE MOM” by her family and friends. She provided unwavering support, strength, and encouragement to her children throughout their lives.

Ardell later pursued her interest in the medical field and became a certified phlebotomist. She worked at various medical labs, including AccuTec, OmniTec, and Quest Diagnostics.

Marriage to Lawrence Antolini

Ardell met her second husband, Lawrence Antolini, at a Drum and Bugle Corp competition. They married in 1984, and her family grew with the addition of Jason, Justine, and Justin.

Ardell and Lawrence shared a passion for Drum and Bugle Corps and became members of the Reading Buccaneer Alumni Drum and Bugle Corp. Ardell proudly marched as a saber carrier in the color guard.

Later Years and Legacy

Ardell had a passion for collecting figurines, loved animals, and paid meticulous attention to detail. She enjoyed attending Rockettes shows in New York City with her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Ardell’s memory will forever be cherished by her children, Bernard J. Elzer III (Athena), Robert H. Elzer (Allison), Jason Antolini (Myrian), Justine Zeiner (Daryl), and Justin Antolini (Nancy); her grandchildren, Nathan Elzer, Jocelyn Elzer (Geoff), Nick Elzer, Ethan Muñoz, Abigail Muñoz, Zoey Antolini, Sergio Antolini, Taylor Cirulli (Dillon), and Antonia Antolini; her great-grandchild Capri Cirulli; her brother, Robert Weidner (Dawn); her niece, Michele Coller (Robert); and her great-nieces, Allyson Morgan, Lauryn Morgan, and Emily Morgan.

Services

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ardell’s name to the Animal Rescue League.
