Funeral Arrangements for Catherine R. Whitely Announced

A Beloved Caregiver and Family Member

The community is mourning the loss of Catherine R. Whitely, a devoted wife, sister, aunt, and nurse who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at the age of 70. Catherine’s life was dedicated to caring for others, both in her professional and personal capacities.

Catherine’s funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. John Vianney Church in Mentor, Ohio. Father Tom Johns will officiate the ceremony. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Painesville, Ohio.

Visitation will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral mass. Family and friends are invited to attend to pay their respects and celebrate Catherine’s life.

A Life of Service and Compassion

Born June 23, 1953, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Catherine spent her early years in Atlanta, Georgia, and Willoughby, Ohio, before settling in Concord Township. As a compassionate and skilled nurse, she made a significant impact on countless lives throughout her career.

Catherine’s nursing experience spanned various healthcare settings, including Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic, Lakeland Community College, and Perry Nuclear Power Plant. Her dedication to her patients was evident in her work, providing exceptional care and support to those in need.

Beyond her professional life, Catherine possessed a natural gift for caring, extending her compassion to her family and friends. Known for her contagious sense of humor and calming nature, she drew people towards her with ease.

Catherine’s legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed by her family, Tracy R. (nee Ryan) McGranahan and Chris (Susan) Anderson, as well as her nephew, Joseph M. (Riley) Yager, and numerous nieces and nephews on her late husband’s side.
