A prank triggered a panic among holiday shoppers at the Chicago Ridge Mall in Illinois on Sunday evening. Police received a call at 7:20 p.m. reporting possible shots fired inside the mall. However, a thorough search revealed no evidence of a shooting or any injuries.
Video footage obtained by ABC7 shows shoppers fleeing after a single, loud boom. Store employees were also seen securing their entrances. Chicago Ridge police have confirmed the incident was a prank and are currently investigating to identify the perpetrators. Authorities have assured the public that there was no actual threat to safety and are urging anyone with information to contact them.
