Coldplay’s upcoming concerts in Ahmedabad on January 25th and 26th at the Narendra Modi Stadium, part of their Music of the Spheres tour, have prompted a safety intervention from the District Child Protection Unit. Following a complaint filed by sociology professor Pandit Rao Dharnevar, the Unit has issued a notice mandating several measures to protect children attending the concerts. These measures include a strict prohibition on involving children in any on-stage performances, a requirement for all children present to wear earplugs or other hearing protection, and a firm limit on sound levels, which must remain below 120 decibels. The notice explicitly states that non-compliance will result in strict action against Chris Martin and the concert organizers. Professor Dharnevar’s complaint cited potential harm to children’s physical and mental well-being stemming from exposure to excessively loud noises. The high demand for the initial concert resulted in a second show being added, with tickets for this additional performance going on sale in November 2024.
