Holly L. Golden, 52, of Augusta, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 9, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Obituary
Holly was born in Augusta on June 10, 1971, the daughter of Robert and Linda (Smith) Golden. She grew up in Augusta and attended local schools, graduating from Cony High School in 1989.
After high school, Holly attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She began her teaching career in the Augusta School District, where she taught for over 20 years. Holly was a dedicated and passionate teacher who loved working with her students. She was always looking for new and innovative ways to make learning fun and engaging.
In addition to her teaching career, Holly was also an active member of her community. She volunteered her time with several organizations, including the Augusta Food Bank and the Capital Area YMCA. Holly was also a member of the Maine Teachers Association and the National Education Association.
Holly is survived by her parents, Robert and Linda Golden of Augusta; her brother, Robert Golden Jr. and his wife, Kimberly, of Hallowell; her sister, Heather Golden of Augusta; her nieces and nephews, Robert Golden III, Emily Golden, and Abigail Golden; and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Holly’s life will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Augusta Civic Center.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Holly’s memory to the Augusta Food Bank or the Capital Area YMCA.
