Obituary: Linda Mae Hardy, 71, of Jay

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Mae Hardy, 71, of Jay, Maine. Linda passed away peacefully on May 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

A Life Well-Lived

Linda was born on January 12, 1953, in Farmington, Maine, to the late John and Mary (Smith) Hardy. She was raised in Jay and graduated from Jay High School in 1971. Linda went on to pursue a career in nursing, graduating from Central Maine Community College with an associate degree in nursing in 1973. She worked as a registered nurse for over 40 years, providing compassionate care to countless patients throughout her career.

A Devoted Mother and Grandmother

Outside of work, Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. She raised two children, Michael and Sarah, as a single mother, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, and perseverance. Linda adored her four grandchildren, Emily, Ethan, Sophia, and Carter, and cherished every moment she spent with them. She was always there for her family, offering love, support, and guidance.

A Passionate Gardener and Community Member

Linda had a deep love for nature and spent many hours tending to her beautiful flower gardens. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with friends and family at her camp on Clearwater Lake. Linda was also actively involved in her community, volunteering her time with several local organizations, including the Jay Food Bank and the Jay Historical Society.

Legacy of Love and Compassion

Linda Hardy will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering spirit, and love for her family and community. She touched the lives of many people throughout her life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and service will continue to inspire those who knew her.

Funeral Arrangements

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. A private memorial gathering will be held for family and close friends at a later date.
