Lorraine Somers, Beloved Oakland Resident, Passes Away at 65

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Somers, a cherished member of the Oakland community. Lorraine passed away peacefully on May 7, 2023, at the age of 65.

Lorraine was born and raised in Oakland, where she spent her entire life. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Lorraine was a pillar of the Oakland community and was actively involved in many local organizations and events. She was a member of the Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and volunteered for many years.

Lorraine was also a passionate supporter of the Oakland Public Library and served on the Library Board for several years. She was instrumental in organizing the town’s annual book fair and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

In her free time, Lorraine enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, and had a talent for painting. She was always up for a good conversation and had a wonderful sense of humor.

Lorraine is survived by her children, John and Mary; her grandchildren, Sarah and Michael; her sister, Susan; and her many nieces and nephews.
