Maine Death Notice: Sally Tarini

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sally Tarini, a beloved 76-year-old resident of Unity, Maine. Sally passed away peacefully on May 15, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Visitation

Visitation will be held from 4-6 PM on Wednesday, May 24th, at the Gallant Funeral Home, located at 10 Elm Street in Waterville, Maine. All are welcome to come and pay their respects to Sally and her family.

Mass of Christian Burial

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 25th, at Notre Dame Catholic Church, located at 112 Silver Street in Waterville, Maine. Father Michael Vaillancourt will be the celebrant. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sally’s life.

Obituary

Sally was born on January 15, 1947, in Waterville, Maine, to the late John and Mary (Smith) Tarini. She grew up in Waterville and graduated from Waterville High School in 1965. After high school, Sally attended the University of Maine at Farmington, where she earned a degree in education.

Sally began her teaching career in 1969 at the Unity Elementary School. She taught there for 35 years, touching the lives of countless students. Sally was a dedicated and passionate teacher who loved her students and her job. She was also a mentor to many new teachers and was always willing to share her knowledge and experience.

In addition to her teaching career, Sally was also very active in her community. She was a member of the Unity Historical Society, the Unity Lions Club, and the Unity Congregational Church. Sally was always willing to lend a helping hand and was always there for her friends and neighbors.

Sally is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Tarini; her two children, Amy Tarini of Portland, Maine, and David Tarini of Unity, Maine; and her four grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Jacob, and Sophia. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Smith of Waterville, Maine, and her brother, John Tarini of New York City.

Sally was predeceased by her parents and her brother, James Tarini.

Sally will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and community. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her love of life.
