Stephen P. Gagliardi, 75, of Oakland, Passes Away

Stephen P. Gagliardi, a longtime resident of Oakland, Maine, passed away on May 22, 2023, at the age of 75. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing.

Visitation and Funeral Arrangements

Visitation for Stephen will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Gallant Funeral Home, located at 10 Elm Street in Waterville, Maine. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, at 11 a.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, located at 60 Eustis Parkway in Waterville, Maine.


Stephen was born on January 10, 1948, in Waterville, Maine, to parents Joseph and Mary (née Rossi) Gagliardi. He graduated from Waterville High School in 1966 and went on to attend the University of Maine at Orono, where he earned a degree in business administration in 1970. After graduating college, Stephen returned to his hometown of Oakland, where he worked as a financial advisor for over 40 years. He was a dedicated and passionate worker who always put the needs of his clients first.

Stephen was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He married his high school sweetheart, Susan (née Smith), in 1972, and they raised two children together. Stephen was a proud and supportive father who always encouraged his children to pursue their dreams. He was also a doting grandfather who loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Stephen was an active member of his community. He served on the Oakland Town Council for several years and was a member of the Oakland Rotary Club. He was also a parishioner of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a lay reader and a member of the vestry.

Stephen was a kind and compassionate man who always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.
