LOS ANGELES (KABC) — Alfa Anderson, best known as one of the lead vocalists for the iconic 1970s band Chic, has died at the age of 77. The singer’s death was announced on Saturday, though it reportedly occurred earlier in the week.

Niles Rodgers, founder of Chic, shared the news on Instagram, posting a montage of photos from Anderson’s career with the group. Chic achieved massive success with hits such as “Le Freak,” “I Want Your Love,” and “Good Times.” Anderson became a lead vocalist for the band in 1978 following the departure of one of the original lead singers.

The cause of Anderson’s death has not been publicly disclosed.
