thank you You it doesn’t leave us without a few wild twists and turns that, frankly, no one expected, especially when it comes to Rhys Montrose (Ed Speleers). Does Rhys have a twin in ‘You’?

There is actually a Rhys Montrose, but before we get into why we’re seeing a doppelgänger, it’s important to lay the groundwork for his relationship with Joe. They first meet at Sundry House, an elite social club owned by Adam (Lukas Gaga), a wealthy American who spends on fumes in his bank account. Joe and Rhys bond over the fact that they’ve both wandered into this opulent world and neither is sure what they want to say. That same night, Joe gets very drunk and wakes up with a dead body in his apartment.

As the increasingly privileged group is preyed upon by a killer dubbed the Eat The Rich Killer by the press, Joe receives messages from a mysterious person who knows all about his violent past. This person uses this knowledge to blackmail Joe into becoming an unwilling accomplice in the murders, culminating in the weekend where Rhys is revealed to be the Eat The Rich Killer who was also texting Joe.

This brings us to Rhys’s twin (who isn’t actually his twin).

Now that Joe knows who Rhys really is, all he can think about is destroying him. But wait, another villain has entered the conversation in the form of Kate’s (Charlotte Ritchie) father (played by Greg Kinnear), whose corporate misdeeds border on the psychotic. Apparently, Rhys would want Joe to kill Kate’s father because he knows the truth about Rhys: the memoir that made him famous was slightly padded. In an exciting evening with Kate and her dad, he reveals that he also knows who Joe is and would like Joe to get rid of Rhys.

There are so many enemies in the last season You and none of them seem to be joe, or are they? Something important to know is that when Joe unsuccessfully tried to record Rhys confessing to being the killer, Rhys informed him that at some point he had kidnapped Marienne (Tati Gabrielle) and was using her as collateral. With all this going on in Joe’s head, he goes to Reese’s cabin in the country to finally kill him.

Joe ties Rhys up and starts torturing him as he screams about Marienne. In a moment of panic or passion, Joe strangles Rhys to death before learning where Marienne is being held and that is when the second Rhys walks into the room. Get ready for Fighters club twist!

Rhys and Joe have only met once. There were never any texts between them. Joe was killing all the time. But wait, there’s more. He also kidnapped Marienne and had some kind of psychotic breakdown because of it. This whole time he was breaking away! Rhys is Joe’s Tyler Durden. I did You do you see that?
