Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother

Dolores Marie Tuma, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at Mala Strana in New Prague at the age of 91.

Dolores was born on July 6, 1932, on the family farm in rural New Prague, Scott County, to Charles and Adeline (Machacek) Bartusek. She graduated from New Prague High School and married Joseph L. Tuma on June 10, 1952, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Veseli.

Dolores was a devoted homemaker who also helped on the family farm. She and Joe later moved to New Prague, where they lived for many years.

Dolores was a devout Catholic and a member of the Rosary Society and Fatima prayer group at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. She was deeply committed to her faith and found great comfort in her prayer and community.

Dolores’ greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished every moment with her family and was always there for them, no matter what.

Dolores is survived by her children, Deborah (Michael) Prokes of New Prague, Pamela (Paul) Hegseth of Kenyon, and Gerard Tuma of Webster; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; special niece, Kristine Kubes; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; parents; parents-in-law, Joseph F. and Julia Tuma; sister, Adeline (Melvin) Kubes; brother, Charles (Mary) Bartusek; brother-in-law, Eugene Tuma; and sister-in-law, Adeline (Eugene) Malecha.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 3, 2024, from 4-7 PM at the White Funeral Home in Lonsdale and one hour prior to Mass at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Lonsdale.
