Donald V. Coston, born December 6, 1935, in Palmyra, was a man of honor and strength, embodying the values of dedication and service. His 87 years were marked by a distinguished 21-year tenure in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era, retiring in 1975. Post-military, Donald continued his service in the Civil Service at Brunswick Naval Air Station, contributing tirelessly for another 21 years. In 1991, he achieved a milestone by graduating from Husson College. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Donald was a vigorous competitor in the National Veteran’s Golden Age Games and a devoted member of the Shriners. His passion for life was evident in his love for cribbage, boating, and the thrill of NASCAR, staunchly supporting racers Dale Earnhardt and Kyle Busch. Family was his anchor, and he cherished moments spent on the lake with loved ones.

Donald V. Coston’s life journey concluded peacefully on November 4, 2023, at the Togus VA Hospice.

Timing and Location:

His final farewell will be observed with a visitation on November 11, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home in Pittsfield. In a celebration of his legacy and service, a graveside service with military honors is scheduled for the spring of 2024 at Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland.
