Doris Kay Knights, a cherished resident of Rosemount, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on March 24, 1933, in Waconia, Minnesota, Doris was the daughter of Frank and Margaret Slitzke.

Doris’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family and her warm and compassionate spirit. She graduated from Waconia High School in 1951 and went on to build a loving family with her husband, Richard Knights. The couple celebrated 59 years of marriage before Richard’s passing. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Michelle, in 1966.

Doris’s family was her greatest source of joy. She adored her granddaughters, Samantha and Madison, and took great pleasure in caring for them during their early years. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, always putting their needs first.

A Life Filled with Love and Purpose

Beyond her family, Doris made an impact on countless lives through her kindness and generosity. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rosemount, where she actively participated in various ministries. Her unwavering faith guided her throughout her life.

Doris was known for her exceptional work ethic and strong sense of community. She held various jobs throughout her career, including a waitress at the Rosemount American Legion and a data entry specialist at Blue Cross Blue Shield. In each role, she approached her work with diligence and a commitment to excellence.

In her later years, Doris enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, reading, and pursuing her hobbies. She was an avid reader, with hundreds of books on her bookshelves and an extensive collection of e-books. Her love for learning and knowledge extended to all aspects of her life.

Celebrating Doris’s Life

Doris’s family and friends are invited to join them for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (13900 Biscayne Ave W.) in Rosemount. A memorial visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or a charity of your choice in Doris’s memory.
