Biography

Elizabeth Brookhart Anderson, known for her spirited and witty personality, passed away peacefully at the age of 92. Born in Washington, D.C. on April 17, 1931, she was the daughter of Lt. Col. Smith Brookhart, Jr. and Elizabeth Waller Brookhart.

Elizabeth earned a Bachelor of Science degree in dietetics from Iowa State University, where she met her beloved husband, Byron Richard Anderson. They were married for 53 years, raising a family and traveling the world as Byron’s career as a petroleum geophysicist took them to Montana, California, Alaska, Colorado, Texas, Wyoming, and London, England.

In memory of her husband, Elizabeth gifted the Elizabeth and Byron Anderson Sculpture Garden to Iowa State University upon his passing in 2004.

Legacy

Elizabeth is survived by her three children: Byron (Sharron) Anderson, Betty (Mark) Ehrhart, and Arthur (Rebecca) Andersson. She was a loving grandmother to ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth was a woman of great character, known for her intelligence, quick wit, and love of family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of Elizabeth’s life will be held on June 8th, 2024 at 11am at Crown Hill Mortuary in Lakewood, Colorado.
