  • Elon Musk is considering further layoffs at Twitter as early as Monday, Bloomberg reported.

  • The cuts would be aimed at Twitter’s sales and partner teams, according to the report.

  • According to Bloomberg’s sources, two senior executives were fired because they refused to accept further layoffs.

Elon Musk could fire more workers at Twitter as early as Monday, Bloomberg reported, citing anonymous sources.

Additional cuts would target employees in the company’s sales and partner teams, which are less affected by the recent resignations than technical roles.

On Friday, Musk asked executives of Twitter’s sales and partnership teams to lay off more of their employees, Bloomberg reported. Robin Wheeler, who led the marketing and sales team, and Maggie Suniewick, head of Twitter’s partner team, were both fired for opposing the cuts, according to the report.

Wheeler initially resigned on November 10, but Elon Musk convinced him to stay on at Twitter. Just a week later, he fired her.

Suniewick only joined Twitter in June from NBCUniversal.

Twitter’s headcount has been severely cut over the past month. On November 4, a week after Musk’s acquisition, he laid off more than half of his workforce.

On Thursday, more than half of the approximately 4,000 remaining employees decided to accept severance rather than commit to Musk’s “extremely hard-line” vision for Twitter, which included “long, high-intensity work hours.”

Layoffs were particularly prevalent among engineering positions, leaving Twitter scrambling to find available engineers. In a series of emails sent around midnight on Friday, Musk asked to meet with “everyone who actually writes software” on Friday afternoon.

Wheeler, Suniewick and Twitter did not immediately respond to Insider’s requests for comment.
