Fiery crash kills man after vehicle hits electric pole.

A man was killed and a woman critically injured in a fiery car wreck early Christmas morning. The accident occurred around 12:45 a.m. on Wednesday on Wilson Road near N. Sam Houston Parkway. The vehicle struck an electric pole, causing the transformers to fall onto the car and ignite a fire. Live power lines hampered rescue efforts; firefighters waited for the electricity to be cut before extinguishing the blaze.

The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The female passenger sustained burns to approximately 70% of her body and was transported to a nearby hospital. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, though authorities are exploring the possibilities of excessive speed or alcohol impairment. While it wasn’t raining at the time of the crash, roads were slick from earlier thunderstorms. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is leading the ongoing investigation.
