Gein's 4K Horror: Vinegar Syndrome Unearths 1974 Cult Classic

Vinegar Syndrome Brings Ed Gein-Inspired Horror Classic *Deranged* to 4K

Vinegar Syndrome is releasing a highly anticipated 4K restoration of the 1974 horror film, *Deranged*, later this month. Inspired by the infamous Ed Gein, the film offers a chillingly close adaptation of his crimes, albeit with dramatic license and a name change for the protagonist, Ezra Cobb. This limited edition release, capped at 6,000 units, is available for pre-order now [insert link here].

Directed by Jeff Gillen and Alan Ormsby, with a screenplay by Ormsby and legendary special effects by Tom Savini, *Deranged* follows the descent into madness of Ezra Cobb. Living an isolated life with his domineering mother, Ezra’s already unstable mental state shatters upon her death. His subsequent actions involve grave robbing and increasingly horrific acts as his loneliness and derangement spiral out of control. The film stars Roberts Blossom, recognizable to audiences as LeBay from *Christine* and Old Man Marley in *Home Alone*, in the disturbing role of Ezra Cobb.

Vinegar Syndrome’s 2-disc 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray release boasts an impressive array of bonus features for horror enthusiasts:

* 4K UHD presented in Dolby Vision High-Dynamic-Range
* Newly scanned and restored in 4K from the original 35mm camera negative
* Commentary tracks featuring writer/co-director Alan Ormsby, special effects artist Tom Savini, and film historian Richard Harland Smith
