Gloria Simms, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019, at the age of 97. Born in Louisiana, she was a long-time resident of Vallejo, California.

Gloria’s journey was marked by her unwavering love for her family and friends. Her home was a haven where laughter, warmth, and the aroma of freshly baked treats filled the air. She cherished her role as a mother and took immense pride in her children’s accomplishments.

Gloria’s passions extended beyond her family. She was an ardent traveler, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart. She enjoyed the thrill of a good bingo game or a trip to the casino. Her artistic spirit shone through her love of baking, cake decorating, and crafting.

Gloria’s Catholic faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church and its Charismatic Group. Her belief in God sustained her through life’s challenges and brought her immense comfort in her final days.

Gloria will be deeply missed by her daughters, Linda Simms and Lisa Thompson; grandchildren, Lakisha Brown, Brandon Baskerville, and Dalonte Baskerville; great-grandchildren, Rashad Brown and Jordan Brown; and a multitude of extended family and friends.

Her legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering spirit will continue to inspire those who knew her.

A Rosary will be recited under the bereavement of St. Vincent Church on Wednesday, May 22nd, from 3-7 pm, at Skyview Mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 23rd, at 11 am, at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church. Interment will follow at All Souls/St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery.
