Gospel music legend Nancy Harmon dies at age 85.
Nancy Harmon, a beloved gospel singer and songwriter, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the age of 85. Surrounded by caregivers at her home in Cleveland, Tennessee, she succumbed to Alzheimer’s disease after a courageous battle. Born September 25, 1939, in Warrensburg, Missouri, Harmon’s legacy extends far beyond her powerful gospel-soul voice and inspirational songs like “The Blood Bought Church,” “I’ve Come Too Far to Look Back,” and “Nothing’s Too Big for My God.”

Over a six-decade career, Harmon recorded over 45 studio and live albums, ministering in more than 4,500 churches and mentoring countless young singers and musicians. She founded Love Special World Outreach Ministries/Nancy Harmon Ministries/Love Special Productions, and her groundbreaking television program, *The Love Special*, enjoyed a remarkable run as the longest-syndicated music show on TBN, touching the lives of millions. Her influence resonated deeply within the gospel community, with her songs covered by renowned artists such as The Statesmen, The LeFevres, The Nelons, The Hoppers, Jimmy Swaggart, Janet Paschal, Karen Wheaton, and Kenneth Copeland. Even Natalie Cole, the late Grammy-winning R&B icon, acknowledged Harmon’s profound spiritual impact on her life.

Harmon’s ministry began in 1957 at Calvary Temple in Kansas City, Missouri. She later moved to San Jose, California, to direct the choir at Faith Temple (now Cathedral of Faith) under the late Rev. Kenny Foreman, Sr., and also became a featured singer on the Gaither Homecoming videos, sharing her gospel message with a global audience. In 1984, she established Love’s Place in Portland, Oregon, a ministry dedicated to providing foster care and support for children in need. Relocating to Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, in 1988, she further expanded her ministry, launching *The Mighty Warriors*, a youth program that brought young people from across the nation together for intensive ministry training. After 36 years in Texas, she settled in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be officiated by Bishop Tim Hill, Church of God Overseer for the State of Tennessee. Details regarding the service in Cleveland, Tennessee, will be announced shortly.
