## DCU’s Batman: No Origin Story in Sight, Gunn Confirms
DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed that the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) will not revisit Batman’s origin story. In an interview with Rotten Tomatoes, Gunn stated, “He already exists in this universe, just like when we come to the Superman movie and we see that Superman already exists, he’s already known by the people in Metropolis. We don’t need to hear the origin story again.” This decision marks a departure from previous iterations of the Batman mythos, which have frequently revisited the tragic death of his parents. Instead, Gunn’s approach focuses on integrating Batman as an established figure within the DCU’s existing framework.
Gunn’s comments follow Batman’s recent, albeit heavily silhouetted, appearance in the first DCU project, *Creature Commandos*. He revealed that the initial version of the episode featured significantly more of the Dark Knight, but he opted for a more subtle introduction. “When they first showed the episode to me, there was a lot more Batman,” Gunn explained. “And I said, ‘I’m not ready to commit to that… more silhouette!’”
The identity of the actor who will portray Batman in future DCU projects remains undisclosed, despite considerable speculation. Several actors, including Jake Gyllenhaal, Alan Ritchson, and Jensen Ackles, have been mentioned as possibilities. While a live-action debut in another film is plausible, Batman is confirmed to appear in *The Brave and the Bold*, alongside his son Damian Wayne, directed by Andy Muschietti.
*Creature Commandos*, which premiered earlier this year, features a voice cast including Frank Grillo, David Harbour, Indira Varma, Maria Bakalova, Alan Tudyk, Zoe Chao, Steve Agee, and Sean Gunn. The series follows a team of incarcerated monsters recruited for dangerous missions, and has already been renewed for a second season. The season finale airs next week.
