Maui police are investigating the discovery of a body in the wheel well of a United Airlines plane that landed in Kahului Airport on Tuesday. The airline confirmed that the body was found in the wheel well of a Boeing 787-10, flight 202, arriving from Chicago. United stated that the wheel well is only accessible from outside the aircraft, leaving the circumstances of how and when the individual entered it unclear.
The Maui Police Department released a statement saying they are actively investigating the incident, but neither the airline nor the police offered further details. A request for information to Kahului Airport directed inquiries to the state department of transportation’s public affairs officer, who confirmed they had no additional information beyond what United had already released.
