Hyderabad Booms: Reddy Lauds Congress's Role

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy inaugurated a new 4-kilometer Aramgarh-Zoo Park flyover in Hyderabad, emphasizing the Congress party’s longstanding commitment to the city’s development. Named after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, the flyover is presented as a continuation of infrastructure projects initiated during previous Congress governments, referencing the construction of the PV Narasimha Rao flyover under Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s leadership. Reddy highlighted this as a testament to the party’s consistent dedication to Hyderabad’s progress.

Reddy stressed the crucial role of Hyderabad’s growth in Telangana’s overall development. He outlined the government’s multifaceted approach, addressing challenges ranging from road expansion and metro rail development to clean drinking water initiatives through Godavari river projects and the Musi river’s revival. Public safety, traffic management, and youth employment remain central to the government’s agenda, he stated. This commitment to infrastructure was further demonstrated by the simultaneous inauguration of a ₹301-crore sewage project in the Chandrayangutta constituency.

Significantly, Reddy underscored a collaborative approach to urban development, announcing plans to work with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) for Hyderabad’s betterment. He emphasized that post-election politics should prioritize progress, stating that together, they will transform the city. Further highlighting the government’s achievements, Reddy discussed the completion of land acquisition and permissions for the long-delayed Charlapalli Railway Terminal, transforming it into a major railway hub. He also advocated for the approval of Hyderabad Metro’s second phase, stalled for over a decade, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Looking towards the future, Reddy advocated for the construction of a Regional Ring Road alongside the existing Outer Ring Road, citing its potential to boost Telangana’s growth and create widespread employment. He also mentioned proposals submitted to the central government for a regional railway network and new rail lines, such as the Vikarabad-Kodangal-Krishna route. A forthcoming meeting with AIMIM MPs, MLAs, and MLCs to discuss Hyderabad’s future development plans further solidifies this collaborative approach. Reddy concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to prioritizing Hyderabad’s development, viewing it not merely as an old city, but as the original city, deserving of significant investment and attention. The inauguration was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, and local MLAs and the Mayor. The Congress government envisions Hyderabad as a global model for sustainable and inclusive urban development.
