A Life Devoted to Family, Faith, and Community

On June 12, the Denver community mourned the passing of Alice M. Wester, a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to her family, her faith, and countless volunteer efforts. Alice, who was 99 years old, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children.

Cherished Memories of a Life Well-Lived

Alice M. Wester was born in Omaha, Nebraska, and raised in New York City. After graduating from Fordham University School of Education, she embarked on a journey that would span nearly a century, filled with love, service, and unwavering faith.

For an extraordinary 75 years, Alice was the devoted wife of Richard A. Wester. Together, they raised four children: Robert Wester, David Wester, Kathleen Wester Ellerman, and Stephen A. Wester. Alice’s children became her greatest source of joy and pride, and their love for her extended to her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice was not only a pillar of her family but also a dedicated volunteer. For a decade, she generously gave her time to the Denver Natural History Museum (now the Museum of Nature and Science). As a docent and organizer of the museum’s summer film festival, she shared her boundless enthusiasm for learning and nature with countless visitors.

A Legacy of Love, Creativity, and Faith

Beyond her volunteer work, Alice was an avid reader, a skilled quilter, and an enthusiastic collector of quilts. Her beautiful quilts adorned her family’s homes, each stitch a testament to her creativity and the love that bound her family together.

Alice’s unwavering faith in Christ was the guiding light of her life. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she served for many years as a Eucharistic minister. Her faith sustained her through life’s challenges and inspired her to always extend compassion and kindness to others.

A Celebration of a Life Well-Lived

On June 12, a funeral Mass was celebrated at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where Alice’s family, friends, and community gathered to honor her memory. The Mass was followed by a reception at Fairmount Cemetery, where those present shared fond memories and paid tribute to Alice’s remarkable life.

Alice M. Wester will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, a dedicated volunteer, and a faithful servant of God. Her legacy of love, service, and faith will continue to inspire her family, friends, and the Denver community for generations to come.
