Lorell was born on September 25, 1938, in the heart of Cullman, Alabama, to Thomas Perry and Allie Beatrice Young Jacobs. Growing up in a close-knit family, she developed a deep sense of belonging and community spirit that would shape her entire life.

Early Life and Family

From a young age, Lorell demonstrated a passion for life and a commitment to education. She excelled in her studies and graduated with honors from Cullman High School. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, William “Bill” Powell. Their love story was one for the ages, filled with laughter, support, and unwavering devotion.

Lorell and Bill married in 1958 and embarked on a journey that would span over five decades. Together, they raised a beautiful family, instilling in their children the same values of hard work, compassion, and love for their community that had guided Lorell’s own life.

Community Involvement

Lorell’s passion for her community was evident in her tireless efforts to make a difference. She was a dedicated volunteer for numerous organizations, including the Cullman County Council on Aging, the Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce, and the American Red Cross.

Funeral Arrangements

Funeral services for Lorell Powell will be held on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Moss Service Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Fellowship Cemetery at Springhill.
