Jisoo's 30th Birthday:  A Look at Her 2025 Acting Roles


Kim Ji-soo, better known as Jisoo, is a prominent figure in South Korean entertainment. While achieving global fame as a member of the K-pop sensation BLACKPINK, she’s also carved a successful solo career and is now making significant strides as an actress. With BLACKPINK currently on hiatus (since 2023), Jisoo has dedicated herself to her burgeoning acting career, and 2025 promises to be a banner year. As she celebrates her 30th birthday, her upcoming roles solidify her status as a multi-talented powerhouse.

Her first major project is *Newtopia*, a drama based on Han Sang Woon’s novel *Influenza*. Jisoo stars opposite Park Jeong Min as Kang Yeong Ju, an engineer, navigating a zombie outbreak in Seoul alongside her soldier boyfriend, Lee Jae Yoon (Jeong Min). Their relationship is tested as they fight for survival separately, having broken up before the devastating flu pandemic began. Directed by Yoon Sung Hyun, *Newtopia* premieres February 7th on Coupang Play and Amazon Prime Video.

Next, Jisoo will star in the romantic comedy *Boyfriend on Demand* (formerly titled *Monthly Boyfriend*), alongside Seo In Guk. This project delves into the complexities of modern relationships and the impact of technology. Jisoo plays Seo Mi Rae, a webtoon producer seeking love without the usual risks and emotional entanglements. She finds a unique solution in a virtual dating simulation, “Monthly Boyfriend,” allowing her to date numerous men without commitment. Directed by Kim Jung Shik, the release date for *Boyfriend on Demand* is yet to be confirmed but is expected later this year.

Finally, Jisoo makes her highly anticipated film debut in *Omniscient Reader: The Prophet*, a star-studded adaptation of the popular webtoon *Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint*. She joins a stellar cast including Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, and Chae Soo Bin. Jisoo plays Lee Ji Hye, a trainee alongside Yoo Joong Hyuk (Lee Min Ho), as they team up with Kim Dok Ja (Ahn Hyo Seop) to save the world from a fictional apocalypse now become reality. Directed by Kim Byung Woo, the film is slated for release in July. These diverse and exciting roles showcase Jisoo’s versatility and promise to further solidify her position as a leading actress in the Korean entertainment industry.
