Kathryn M. Scroggin, Beloved Matriarch, Passes Away Peacefully
A Life Lived with Love and Dedication
Kathryn M. Scroggin, affectionately known as Kathy, passed away serenely on May 21, 2024,
in Antioch, Illinois, at the age of 70. She was surrounded by her loving family as she
embarked on her heavenly journey.
Born on October 12, 1953, in Round Lake, Illinois, Kathy was the daughter of Edwin and
Kathryn (née Wienke) Schad. She grew up in various towns, including Round Lake, Illinois,
and Biloxi, Mississippi, before settling in Antioch in 1974.
Kathy’s life was dedicated to her family and her work. She held several administrative
positions, including at Baxter Laboratories, Waste Management, and the Village of Antioch.
She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Lakes-St. Peter Church, where she remained
involved in various activities.
A Family Legacy of Love and Memories
Kathy’s greatest joy was her family. She had two adoring children, Robert and Dawn. She
was blessed with five grandchildren: Rocco, Roman, Carmen, Baylie, and Braydon. Kathy
cherished her time with them, attending all their events and showering them with love and
affection.
In addition to her children and grandchildren, Kathy is survived by her husband of nearly 54
years, Robert Scroggin, Jr.; two brothers, Edwin “Butch” Schad and Ron Schad; and numerous
nieces, nephews, and other family members who held a special place in her heart.
Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Marie Leeking; her brother, Dale Schad; and
her sister, Julie Schad. Their memories will live on forever in her heart.
A Celebration of Life and Legacy
A funeral mass will be held in Kathy’s honor at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Our Lady
of the Lakes-St. Peter Church in Antioch, Illinois. She will be laid to rest at Hillside
Cemetery in Antioch.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s

Kathryn M. Scroggin will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her
loving spirit and unwavering dedication to her loved ones will continue to inspire them for
